I went to the YMCA at a young age. My mom used to take me to swimming lessons for 6 weeks in a row. I went to Summer Camp for one session. I remember during a swimming lesson the Y staff tried to teach me how to dive off the diving board, but I got scared and bumped my head getting down. Over the next few days I did it! The staff at the Y were so proud of me, and so was my mom.
As for my Y story, I started going last year, and this year more frequently. I’ve lost a total of 8lbs and I’ve met a lot of new friends and staff. This has made me a stronger and healthier person, has helped my weight management, has made my heart stronger and all together just made me a healthier, happier me.
